WM New Zealand and All Heart NZ are excited to collaborate once again, this time for Repair Fest Aotearoa, running from 14–22 September 2024. The event will feature a series of free Repair Tours across the country, showcasing how sustainability and community engagement can go hand-in-hand.
LJ Unuia, National Rangatira of All Heart Store, emphasised the importance of the initiative: “We are very passionate about repurposing, upcycling, and repairing redundant corporate and construction resources. We’re grateful for our partners, like WM New Zealand, for working with us to find more sustainable solutions and redirect items away from the landfill back into our community.”
Unuia highlighted the broader social outcomes of these efforts, noting that repurposing what was once considered waste not only addresses environmental concerns but also creates employment opportunities, volunteer roles, and better access to education.
Rhiannon Wakley, Sustainability Partner at WM New Zealand, is thrilled to be part of the upcoming Repair Fest. “I’m so excited to keep working with All Heart NZ and to see what’s next,” she shared, inviting Kiwis to join the tours.
The Repair Tours will visit various All Heart stores across the country, including Kaikohe, Waitara, Manukau, and Wellington. Each tour will give attendees the chance to explore how All Heart NZ repurposes furniture, IT gear, construction waste, plastics, and textiles. With a circular solution in place, these efforts not only reduce business overheads but also create long-term environmental and social benefits.
With food provided, this is a perfect opportunity to learn how small actions can make a big difference for our planet.
