Driver Spotlight: Wellington Municipal

In honour of Driver and Operator Appreciation Week, we turn our focus to the Wellington Municipal team, where dedication and promotion from within have been key to its success. Today, we spotlight Shane Holmes, Jesse Chammen, and Mitchell Reid-Tait, shining examples of commitment and growth within the team.

The Wellington Municipal team prides itself on promoting talent from within its ranks, fostering a culture of growth and opportunity. Leaders like Branch Manager Tracy Reuben and Regional Manager Sarah Whiteman have actively encouraged this ethos, ensuring that deserving individuals have the chance to advance their careers.

Shane Holmes

Shane's journey at WM spans nearly five years, starting humbly as a temporary labourer. His initial motivation stemmed from a need to recover financially after a motorcycle accident. "I started with the new contract and after a year, I asked if I could train as a Class 2 driver," Shane recalls. Since then, he has become proficient as a rear load driver and has expanded his skills as an LEV driver for the glass team, playing a crucial role in the operational success of the team.

Jesse Chammen

Joining WM in 2022 as a labourer, Jesse expressed early on his ambition to obtain a Class 2 license. Through dedication and hard work, Jesse achieved his goal, swiftly progressing to become a Class 2 driver. His willingness to step up during staff shortages also led him to train as an LEV driver, showcasing his versatility and commitment. Jesse's outstanding performance was recognized when he was named LNI Driver of the Month in March 2023, a testament to his dedication and reliability.

Mitchell Reid-Tait

Mitchell's journey with WM began as a temporary labourer, where he quickly made an impact by assisting various teams whenever needed. His proactive approach and readiness to take on new challenges led him to pursue a Class 2 license, eventually transitioning into a role as a rear load driver for the Hutt City Council Municipal team. Mitchell's adaptability and willingness to contribute across different facets of operations have made him a valued member of the team.

Acknowledging Team Effort and Ethic

The successes of Shane, Jesse, and Mitchell underscore the collective effort and strong work ethic within the Wellington Municipal team. Their journeys reflect not only personal growth but also the team's commitment to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for advancement.
