Introducing the newest member of our Sustainability Advisory Board

Nau Mai Dr Hugh Logan, the newest member of our Sustainability Advisory Board.

Dr Logan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, and joins after the sad passing of founding member Sir Rob Fenwick earlier this year.

He will assist new board Chair Lisa Martin (General Manager of Sustainability and Farming Systems at Landcorp Farming Ltd) and existing board member Tim Manukau (environmental advisor and consultant to councils, iwi and corporates) in the external advisory role of providing guidance and oversight to our sustainability strategy For Future Generations.

Dr Logan’s experience includes serving as CEO of the Ministry for the Environment and the Department of Conservation, and before that heading the New Zealand Antarctic Programme.

He helped develop New Zealand’s waste minimisation legislation (including the waste levy), nation-wide contaminated sites, and climate change legislation (including the emissions trading scheme in 2008). More recently he has been involved in advising on government freshwater policy, including chairing the Land and Water Forum, and the collaborative group that developed the report to government on a national approach to indigenous biodiversity protection.

The new board met for the first time last week at our East Tamaki Road HQ. Together they took the opportunity to thank Managing Director Tom Nickels who is retiring at the end of the year and was key to the formation of the board.
