In a significant step toward fleet electrification, WM New Zealand has added six brand-new electric trucks to its lineup, demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainable waste management and reducing its carbon footprint.
Leading the charge is Agnetha, a Volvo FE Electric 6x2 box body truck, proudly named after one of Sweden’s most iconic musical figures. Agnetha will soon join WMNZ’s Technical Services division, playing a key role in medical waste collection with zero emissions. And this is just the beginning — in 2025, WMNZ will welcome an additional four FL Electric trucks, another FE Electric, and an FM Heavy Electric truck, building a formidable electric fleet.
The milestone was celebrated last Friday at WM New Zealand’s 318 facility, with fleet team members and leaders from WM New Zealand and Volvo Trucks coming together to commemorate the occasion.
Evan Maehl, Managing Director of WM New Zealand, highlighted the achievement: “Our relationship with Volvo Trucks has evolved into something truly special. This OEM solution allows us to accelerate our fleet electrification plans while maintaining the highest standards of safety and functionality.”
