Redvale Landfill & Energy Park Boosts Dairy Flat Community

Hero - 2

At WM New Zealand, giving back to local communities is a cornerstone of our values, and our Redvale Landfill & Energy Park is a prime example of this commitment. Located in Dairy Flat, just north of Auckland, Redvale has once again demonstrated its dedication by contributing over $100,000 to the Dairy Flat Community Trust in the past year.

The Dairy Flat Community Trust, which consists of elected local trustees, uses these funds to support a wide range of initiatives, including grants for community organisations, tertiary students, and individuals in need. Glen Jujnovich, Regional Manager at Redvale Landfill and representative trustee from WM, underscores the importance of this support. “Dairy Flat is a small but passionate community doing great things,” he says. “We’re proud to invest in outstanding students, worthy projects, and our local school, making a tangible difference in the lives of people in Dairy Flat.”

Some notable contributions include:

  • $60,000 to Dairy Flat School for a new basketball court. Principal Katie Hills reports that the upgraded court is heavily used and supports the school’s goal of enhancing the student learning environment.
  • $10,000 to Matea Trust to improve shower facilities at Matea House, a residential support service for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • $5,000 to Harbour Hospice Trust to purchase two motor recliner lift chairs. These chairs provide comfort and independence to local residents in palliative care.
  • $5,000 to No.5 (Rodney District) Squadron Air Training Corps for new cadet uniforms, enabling students to participate in community events in full, formal attire.
  • $1,200 each for eight local tertiary students studying various majors, including Engineering, Mechatronics, Law, and Physiotherapy.

The Dairy Flat Community Trust has now donated over $3 million back into the local area, supporting a broad spectrum of needs. The 2024 funding round is open for applications from 19th July to 13th September, with over $104,000 available for new projects. Application forms are available at Redvale Landfill & Energy Park or online at www.dairyflatcommunitytrust.co.nz.

Kudos to Glen Jujnovich and the Redvale team for their remarkable efforts and ongoing support for the Dairy Flat community!
