At WM New Zealand, the role of our finance team extends well beyond the traditional confines of the office. Recently, three of our finance professionals—Commercial Manager Anna Barrett, Commercial Business Partner Tania Nikitina, and Assistant Accountant Jas Sandhu—took a hands-on approach by visiting the Technical Service’s Medical Treatment Plant in East Tamaki.
The purpose of their visit was to check stock numbers, but the experience offered much more than a routine audit. By stepping into the operational environment, the finance team gained a first-hand understanding of the products, their uses, and how they move through the business. This direct exposure is vital for managing finances effectively, ensuring that decisions are grounded in the practical realities of our operations.
Operations Manager Sai Paterson highlighted the value of this cross-functional collaboration. “Understanding the physical product and its journey is crucial for effective financial management. It was great to see our finance team members in their hi-vis gear, getting to know the ins and outs of what we do here. Their presence brought a new perspective that will certainly enhance our financial strategies,” Sai commented with a smile.
This visit exemplifies WM New Zealand’s commitment to Safety, Service, and Togetherness. By fostering close collaboration between our finance and operations teams, we ensure that every aspect of our business is aligned towards achieving our shared goals.
